Abstract:Asoneofthescientificresearchmethods,hypothsis-deduction (H-D)methodhasbeenwidelyused,but therearedifferencesinitsconnotation.WhatisH-Dmethod? Whetherthepartofhypothesisisincludedintheconno- tationoftheH-Dmethod?Somescholarsholdapositiveposition,whilesomescholarsholdanegativepositionandbe- lievethatH-Dmethoddoesnotinvolvetheproposalofhypothesis.Intheformerview,theH-Dmethodisregardedas themethodforthegenerationandtestofhypothesis;inthelatterview,theH-Dmethodisregardedasthemethodfor deducingtheexpectedconsequencesfromthehypothesisandtestingorconfirmingthehypothesis.Inordertoclarify thespecificconnotationofH-D method,ontheonehand,thispapercomparesthepositiveandnegativeviewsfrom theperspectiveofthetextstudyinphilosophyofscience.Ontheotherhand,thispaperanalysestheoriginoftheH- D method,theexplanationsindictionariesandthetwocausesofthemisreadingfortheconcept.Intheend,thecon- notationoftheH-D methodisclarified
